I am recruiting for a Head of Drama for a successful secondary school in Redbridge, East London, to start as soon as possible or from January. This is a permanent post with a TLR 1b attached, reflecting the strategic responsibility for leading Drama across the school. The role would suit an experienced Drama teacher or current middle leader who is ready to shape a dynamic, high-profile department and champion the performing arts within the wider school community.
As Head of Drama, you will lead on curriculum design, teaching and learning, assessment and enrichment for Drama at KS3 and KS4, with the potential for KS5 where applicable. You will model outstanding classroom practice, support colleagues to continually develop their pedagogy and ensure that schemes of work are engaging, inclusive and aligned with examination requirements. You will be responsible for tracking pupil progress, raising attainment and ensuring that Drama remains a popular and successful subject.
The school is looking for a confident, creative leader who can bring clear vision and energy to the role. Experience of directing school productions, running clubs or leading performance events will be highly valued, as will the ability to build excellent relationships with students and staff. You will work closely with senior leaders on whole-school initiatives linked to culture, confidence and oracy, and will be expected to contribute proactively to the wider life of the school.
