The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are looking for a Behaviour Support Mentor with a passion for supporting children and young people with behavioural needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
We are looking for resilient and dedicated Behaviour Mentors. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people with a range of behavioural, social, and emotional needs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils in KS2 with a focus on positive behaviour strategies
- Predominantly classroom-based, working alongside the class teacher and wider support team
- Working 1:1 or with small groups of children who require additional behaviour support
- Opportunity to take children out of class for sports-based activities
- Possibility of running lunch-time or after-school sports clubs
- Creating a safe, engaging, and structured environment that promotes learning and emotional regulation
Requirements:
- Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
- Background as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or similar
- Ability to build strong, trusting, and secure relationships with students
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND
- A calm, patient, and confident approach to managing challenging behaviour
- Comfortable working within the structure of a classroom as well as delivering physical activities
- Passion for sports and using physical activity as a tool to motivate and inspire
