Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking experienced and dedicated plumbers to join our dynamic facilities management team. As a vital part of our healthcare environment, you will be responsible for delivering high quality plumbing repairs, planned maintenance, and breakdown services across our extensive hospital estate. Your role will involve diagnosing and rectifying faults efficiently to ensure the safety and comfort of patients, staff, and visitors. Additionally, you will undertake new installation projects, contributing to the continuous improvement of our facilities. What You’ll Do:
- Provide a high quality, responsive plumbing and estates maintenance service across the hospital, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Undertake both reactive and planned preventative maintenance on complex plant, water systems, heating, and plumbing equipment, with a focus on safety and quality.
- Work effectively in clinical environments, maintaining patient dignity and safety while performing maintenance tasks in occupied areas.
- Participate in the out of hours on call rota to ensure emergency repairs and system responses are managed promptly.
- Diagnose, repair, and install plumbing and mechanical systems, including water, heating, and drainage, following detailed technical drawings and specifications.
- Ensure safe systems of work are always followed, including the use of permits, risk assessments, and adherence to health and safety policies.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clinical staff, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate work and minimise disruption.
- Maintain a proactive approach to sourcing materials, managing stock levels, and ensuring the efficient completion of tasks.
- Possess relevant technical qualifications and experience in mechanical and plumbing systems, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
What You Bring:
- Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering Services, Medical Gases, and Pressure Systems, for example, City and Guilds Level 3
- Experience working within a hospital environment and understanding of NHS Estates HTMs and HBNs
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety laws, and relevant regulations such as BS 7671, Asbestos Regulations, COSHH
- Proficiency in Building Management Systems, for example, CAFM, Planet, Concerto, and estate related audits
- Demonstrated ability to work in a pressurised reactive environment and across multiple trades
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with professionals at all levels
- Proactive, self motivated with strong problem solving skills and a flexible approach to work
- Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to health and safety guidelines
- Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism, honesty, and a patient focused attitude
