The Role

We’re recruiting for Senior Technical Architects here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Compute (EUC) Core Services team. You’ll lead architectural strategy, governance and decision-making to deliver secure, reliable, modern workplace services for colleagues across the Ministry of Justice. You’ll work closely with internal product teams and outsourced technology/delivery partners to ensure high quality services, with a strong focus on risk management, security by design and continuous improvement. The candidate must also be able to work effectively with wider internal business stakeholders to align technical strategies with our organisational goals, whilst maintaining a strong focus on the unique challenges and complexities of delivering secure services into a Government Department.

This role aligns with Senior Technical Architect from the Government Digital and Data Framework

These are exciting times at Justice Digital. We have a clear vision - to develop a digitally enabled justice system that works simply for its users - and we’re looking for enthusiastic, talented people to help us achieve it.

We’re making things better by building adaptable, effective services and making systems that are simple to use for staff and citizens. It can be challenging but it’s also important and rewarding.

As well as doing interesting work, we’re creating an environment that’s great to work in. We provide the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and offer brilliant training opportunities alongside support from expert colleagues. On top of that, you’ll find flexible working, an inclusive culture, and a place where your opinion is valued.

Within the End User Compute team, our mission is to deliver modern workplace technology solutions to all staff within the Ministry of Justice by modernising and simplifying our legacy technical debt, improving the user experience and security posture with continuous improvement and above all, delivering a quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

We’re running a single campaign to hire across two specialisms; one specialising in Core Services the other in Print Services. You must express your preference in your application. The key responsibilities for each role are outlined below:

Shared core responsibilities

Lead the design and evolution of the EUC technology architecture across on-premises and hybrid public cloud environments (primarily Azure).
Ensure solutions align with departmental strategies, industry best practice and regulatory requirements (e.g. Secure by Design and GDPR), embedding security and risk management throughout (see the MoJ cyber security strategy and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework).
Collaborate with internal EUC teams and external suppliers/partners, translating business needs into deliverable technical outcomes and providing architectural governance.
Drive continuous improvement to enhance service quality, resilience, cost effectiveness and performance; contribute to long-term roadmaps.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring, sharing best practice and fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Work closely with the relevant Service Owners and commercial teams to support procurement processes from requirements elicitation through tender processes and effective compliant vendor selection.

Specialisms

Track A – Core Services (EUC Core)

Own the architecture underpinning servers, storage arrays, virtualisation platforms and related infrastructure hosting EUC services.
Evaluate and guide the adoption of new platform capabilities to improve scalability, security and efficiency.
Provide technical leadership across partner-delivered services to ensure standards, interoperability and quality.

Track B – Print

Define and deliver the print technology strategy (standard push/pull, server side and specialised application printing).
Develop our existing enterprise print solutions using Xerox Workspace Cloud, Microsoft Universal Print and other leading platforms; optimise fleet, drivers and queues.
Oversee bulk print and scan workflows with third party vendors and business teams, streamlining processes and automation.
