New Bridge Learning Centre, Fitton Hill, Oldham
NJC scale points 5-11: £25,583 £28,142 per annum (full time equivalent)
Actual Salary range pro rata: £21,881 - £24,069 per annum
SEN Allowance: £1,539 per annum
Commencing January 2026
Part of the wider New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT), New Bridge School is a generic special needs school for pupils and students between the ages of 11 and 19 across two sites: 11-16 age range at our Roman Road campus in Hollinwood and 16-19 age range at our Learning Centre site on St. Martin’s Road, Fitton Hill.
New Bridge caters for pupils with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The school also caters for pupils with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and specific conditions including autism spectrum condition. All pupils have an EHC plan.
New Bridge Learning Centre is one of our post 16 provisions based in Fitton Hill, catering for students with a wide range of needs and abilities.
There is an exciting opportunity for anyone who would like to join our amazing Learning Centre team supporting some truly inspiring young people.
The Trustees are seeking to appoint an energetic and highly motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at New Bridge Learning Centre. The role specifically includes supporting a visually impaired student to access learning, social times, develop confidence and braille literacy, and develop independence skills.
We would be particularly interested in applicants with previous experience of supporting young people with a range of SEND particularly providing VI support.
We would like to invite applications from passionate and committed individuals who have:
- Experience of working with children and young people to overcome barriers to their personal, social or learning development.
- Experience of/ or a passion for, supporting visually impaired young people enabling them to fully access all aspects of school/ college life.
- The physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, taking a nurturing, empathetic non-judgemental approach.
- A genuine appreciation of the potential barriers to post-16 student’s learning, and sensitivity towards their circumstances and life experiences
- High expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential
- Experience of developing activities and alternatives that will support young people to engage in the learning process.
- Understanding of how to support young people with VI, ASD and/ or sensory needs.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, ensuring consistency and continuity daily.
- The ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for students in relation to the curriculum
- A commitment to working effectively with all members of the Learning Centre team.
- Willingness to participate in own professional development
Although based initially at our Fitton Hill site, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group.

This post will be subject to a number of pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. Salary: NJC scale points 5-11: £25,583 £28,142 per annum (full time equivalent)
Actual Salary Range pro rata: £21,881 - £24,069 per annum
SEN allowance: £1,539 per annum
Contracted hours: 36 hours 40 minutes per week / term time only (195 days)
Commencing: January 2026
Status: Permanent
