About the Role

This is a full-time position based in Bradford, beginning as soon as possible. The successful applicant will take on the crucial function of overseeing all aspects of the school's data management and examination processes. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, technical proficiency, and strategic thinking to ensure data integrity, legal compliance, and the effective use of information to drive school improvement. The post-holder will be instrumental in the smooth running of the school's academic calendar, providing essential support to the Senior Leadership Team, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working as a Data Manager and/or Exams Officer within a school setting (secondary preferred).
  • Knowledge of timetabling software and integration with MIS.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Essential Skills

  • Expert MIS Proficiency: Demonstrable expert-level knowledge of school Management Information Systems (e.g., SIMS).
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Exceptional ability to manipulate, analyse, and present complex data using Excel/Power BI/specialist software.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in recording, checking, and validating data and exam entries.
  • Staff Training & Support: Ability to deliver effective training and ongoing support to staff on data protocols and exam procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication for liaising with staff, students, parents, and external bodies (e.g., exam boards).
  • Strategic Thinking: Capacity to contribute to the school's overall strategy by identifying trends and providing insightful data reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Data Systems: Maintain the accuracy, security, and efficiency of the school's MIS database and all associated data systems.
  • Oversee Examinations: Lead the planning, administration, and execution of all internal and external examination series (GCSE, A-Level, BTEC etc.).
  • Produce Analysis: Generate timely and accurate statistical analysis of student performance data for SLT, departmental review, and Governor reporting.
  • Manage Entries & Results: Process all examination entries, manage post-results services, and ensure correct distribution and secure storage of results and certificates.
  • Data Submissions: Ensure all statutory data returns (e.g., Census) are submitted accurately and on time to the DfE and other bodies.
  • Line Manage Invigilation: Recruit, train, and manage the team of examination invigilators.
  • Liaise with Boards: Act as the main point of contact for all Examination Boards, ensuring adherence to their instructions and deadlines.
  • Implement Strategy: Work with leaders to design and implement effective data collection, monitoring, and tracking systems across the school.
  • Uphold GDPR: Ensure all data handling practices comply strictly with GDPR and school data protection policies.
  • Develop Training: Create and deliver training sessions to teaching staff on effective data analysis and interpretation for use in classroom practice.
