About the RoleThe Freight & Logistics Service Manager reports directly to the Site Operations Lead and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient provision of freight delivery services to support a delay-free Sizewell C construction programme.This position involves managing logistics services from storage to land and sea delivery, in line with DCO constraints, while meeting programme needs. You will liaise extensively with Tier 1 contractors, EDF B station, Suffolk County Council representatives, landowners, and local police to deliver an effective and efficient service.You will define scope, lead procurement, and manage contracts for essential services, including the Lead Logistics Provider (LLP), Marine Shared Services, and Rail Operations. The LLP will oversee over 1.3m ft² of warehouse facilities in the UK and potentially mainland Europe, ensuring streamlined supply chain processes and innovative logistics solutions.As the subject matter expert for logistics on-site, you will provide technical input during planning, preparation, and operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, time, and cost parameters. Key ResponsibilitiesLead logistics support services for a construction workforce of ~7,900.Maintain an effective logistics corridor by road, rail, and sea, ensuring compliance with planning requirements.Develop and implement a bespoke Delivery Management System (DMS) and manage stakeholder relationships.Oversee traffic throughput from the Freight Management Facility to the site plaza.Manage contracts with values up to £200m across the project lifecycle.Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and site controls.Coordinate marine operations, including offsite port facilities and the on-site Beach Landing Facility.Develop freight forecasts and delivery slot allocations aligned with the construction programme.Provide technical input and resolve issues related to logistics operations.Deliver line management for Delivery Leads, including career development and performance reporting.Prepare monthly reports on safety, KPIs, SLAs, financials, and forecasting. Nuclear Safety AccountabilitiesThis role carries nuclear safety responsibilities as detailed in the Nuclear Baseline. What You’ll BringEssential:Proven experience in project logistics and abnormal indivisible loads across all transport modes.Leadership experience in logistics on large infrastructure projects.Track record of delivering within large-scale project environments.Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.Ability to manage budgets up to £250m and develop long-term strategies.Desirable:Chartered Membership of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.Experience in high-hazard industries or nuclear construction sites.IOSH Construction Safety Qualification.NEC3 Contract training and project management certification (PRINCE2/APM).Qualifications:Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.Understanding of Principal Contractor role in civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
