Crynodeb
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive, student-centred University in a beautiful coastal location — a place where you can genuinely make a difference. At the University of Plymouth, we offer excellent career development and progression, underpinned by a strong commitment to putting students at the heart of everything we do.
About the role
Over the past six years, Student Services has transformed how we deliver support and advice. At the centre of this transformation is the Student Hub — a warm, welcoming first point of contact for a wide range of enquiries, including finance, international student support, wellbeing, disability support, student conduct, and learning development.
Through the Hub, we streamline access to support, giving students clear, timely advice in one place. Whether online or on campus, students can easily find the information they need, when they need it, across multiple areas of University life.
There are 2 poitions available:
Position 1: This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.
Position 2: This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 1 July 2026 due to Business Demand.
What we’re looking for
You will:
• Have experience in office administration and working in a busy customer-facing environment (ideally student-facing).
• Support individuals who may be upset, confused, or dealing with highly sensitive and emotive issues.
• Need to remain calm, compassionate and professional, using your initiative and problem-solving skills to help students navigate their concerns. Above all, we are seeking someone who can help us deliver a student-focused, friendly and efficient service.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll need to feel confident prioritising, thinking on your feet and working under pressure — always keeping student wellbeing and success at the forefront of your work.
Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Maria Rogers: by email at maria.rogers@plymouth.ac.uk
What we’re looking for
Applications are welcomed from internal and external candidates. Both roles are also available as secondment opportunities for current University of Plymouth staff (with prior line manager approval). Please note that these are campus-based posts; remote working is not available.
For more information about the job and the person specification, please refer to the job description.
Application Process
Please apply online, demonstrating how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training, and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
Following the closing date of the vacancy, you will be notified on the outcome of your application in due course.
Anticipated Interview Date(s): To be confirmed
Our Offer
A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated.
When joining us, you will receive:
