Summary
Aband3role for a Therapy Assistant in Neuro Rehabilitationhas become available in the Community Based Neuro Rehab Teambased in the Readingarea.The role is for37.5hours per week.
The teamsees patients for CommunityNeuro rehabilitation andon theEarlier Supported Discharge for Strokeservice.. We are a well-respected team consisting ofPsychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Stroke Rehab Nurses, Administrators and Therapy Assistants.
The role is community based and you will need to drive to patients’ houses and other community sites to deliver rehabilitationon anindividualbasis following relevant induction.
Rehabilitation is delivered to patients with both improvingand deterioratingNeurological conditions. Working withourpatients can be extremelyrewarding butdoes require sensitivity at timesand canon occasional feel challenging,for which there is support from the teamand a robust supervision structure.
TheTherapyassistant role ispivotal to the teamand will includeprovidingindependent and jointface to face therapy sessionstogether withcompletingadministrativetasks to support the team.
The team is wellestablished,and individuals have expert knowledge and experience which can be used to support you to develop your skills withinneurological rehabilitation.
To deliverpatient facingrehabilitation programmesas guided by therapists. Examples include:
• exercise programmes
• cognitive and visual rehabilitation
• speech and language exercises
• taking blood pressure readings
• mindfulness
• community access visits
• equipmentreviews
Othernon-patient facingtasks include:
• preparation of paperwork for patients referred to theteam
• co-ordinating the team to include meeting related admin and overview of patientflow
• orderingequipment/ collecting from equipment stores
• calling patients to book/change appointments
• supporting with audits
• liaison and referrals to other services
