Summary

A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity to support the implementation of a new community mental health pilot – a strategic priority for the Trust with national visibility through NHS England. Lewisham is one of six national sites selected to test a new model of care for adults with serious mental health needs, led by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust as part of the Lewisham Mental Health Alliance.

We are seeking candidates with strong administration, project support experience who share the pilot’s ethos of improving outcomes for patients, families, & communities. The post holder will join the core programme team, working with neighbourhood teams to prepare for a new way of delivering mental health services, including cultural change and securing a new facility for a centre planned to open in 2025.

This two-year pilot aims to:
• Focus on people’s life stories & aspirations beyond diagnosis.
• Build trust & offer wider interventions including therapies, medication management, & social support such as employment, leisure, housing, and physical health.
• Involve the voluntary sector for community engagement.
• Address inequalities for Black communities, a key priority in Lewisham.
• Test an ‘open access’ model to eliminate waiting times.
• Provide a day service led by peer support workers with therapeutic & social activities.
• Offer intensive support for those at risk of crisis, including guest beds.
• Engage hard-to-reach individuals to reduce relapse and improve quality of life.
• Postholder will play a key role in supporting the programme’s goals through administrative support, project coordination, monitoring and reporting, risk and issue management, document control, and stakeholder engagement. They will work independently, prioritise competing demands, and demonstrate flexibility and initiative when handling enquiries, promoting a professional and caring image of the team.

Role requires self-motivation, excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and a collaborative approach to delivering a high-quality service. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing administrative support and coordinating day-to-day programme activities.
• Planning and managing meetings and forums: preparing agendas, recording actions, and monitoring progress.
• Acting as the first point of contact for programme correspondence, using judgement to resolve issues.
• Establishing and maintaining systems and processes to ensure efficient delivery of programme objectives.
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders and communicating confidently at all levels.
• Keeping the programme team organised and proactively driving progress.
• Supporting event logistics, including venue booking, circulating joining instructions, managing attendance, and distributing documentation.

This is an opportunity for a dynamic individual to contribute to a high-profile initiative, ensuring smooth operations and effective stakeholder engagement.
