Job Description: CNC Miller Operator
Contract: Temp to Perm
Location: Birmingham
Hours: 39 hours/week — Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–15:30
Rate: £13.00 per hour
We are working with a highly skilled engineering company specialising in low-volume and prototype precision machining, fixture design and manufacture, and full CAD/CAM solutions. They operate with expertise in 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining, traditional toolroom work, EDM (spark erosion), and high-accuracy prototype components.

Role OverviewAs a CNC Miller Operator, you will play a vital role in the production of high-precision, low-volume components. You'll operate CNC milling machines using Siemens and Fanuc controls, ensuring that parts are machined accurately to specification. This is a temp-to-perm role, offering the chance to grow within a specialist engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities-
operate, and monitor CNC milling machines (3- to 5-axis) using Siemens and Fanuc controls.

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD data to program and produce precision components.

Select and install the correct tooling, fixtures, and work-holding for each job.

Carry out quality inspections, using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure parts meet tolerances.

Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and report any issues promptly.

Maintain clean and safe work areas in line with company health & safety procedures.

Work collaboratively with engineers, machinists, and quality teams to support continuous improvement.

Track production metrics (e.g., cycle times, scrap rates) and suggest efficiency improvements.
Person Specification / Skills & Experience-
Previous experience as a CNC milling operator or machinist is highly desirable.

Familiarity with Siemens or Fanuc CNC controls.

Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing).

Competent with measuring and inspection tools.

Strong attention to detail and quality-conscious mindset.

Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively.

Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
What We Offer-
Competitive hourly rate: £13.00/hr.
