We are working with a highly skilled engineering company specialising in low-volume and prototype precision machining, fixture design and manufacture, and full CAD/CAM solutions. Role Overview

As a CNC Miller Operator, you will play a vital role in the production of high-precision, low-volume components. You'll operate CNC milling machines using Siemens and Fanuc controls, ensuring that parts are machined accurately to specification. This is a temp-to-perm role, offering the chance to grow within a specialist engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• operate, and monitor CNC milling machines (3- to 5-axis) using Siemens and Fanuc controls.

  
  

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD data to program and produce precision components.

  
  

• Select and install the correct tooling, fixtures, and work-holding for each job.

  
  

• Carry out quality inspections, using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure parts meet tolerances.

  
  

• Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and report any issues promptly.

  
  

• Maintain clean and safe work areas in line with company health & safety procedures.

  
  

• Work collaboratively with engineers, machinists, and quality teams to support continuous improvement.

  
  

• Track production metrics (e.g., cycle times, scrap rates) and suggest efficiency improvements.

  
  Person Specification / Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a CNC milling operator or machinist is highly desirable.

    
    

  • Familiarity with Siemens or Fanuc CNC controls.

    
    

  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing).

    
    

  • Competent with measuring and inspection tools.

    
    

  • Strong attention to detail and quality-conscious mindset.

    
    

  • Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

    
    

  • Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively.

    
    

  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow professionally.

    
    What We Offer

    • Competitive hourly rate: £13.00/hr.

      
      

    • 39-hour working week (08:00–16:30 Mon–Thu; 08:00–15:30 Fri).
