Part Time: 28 hours perweek; 0.8 FTE

Fixed Term: Until 31 March 2027. The post is available from January 2026.



The Opportunity:

We are looking for motivated and creative candidates with a strong interest and background in the applied psychology of mental health. This is an exciting opportunity to be the Edinburgh and NHS Lothian site Research Assistant in the CONNECT study. The CONNECT study is a multi-site Wellcome Trust funded project which aims to identify relapse signatures using active and passive digital monitoring and data collection methods.

The post-holder will have some experience and interest in research on psychosis or in severe mental health problems. The postholder will be responsible for recruitment and assessment of participants in the study and will work closely with the Manchester Research Co-ordinator, the study Project Manager and the project team. The successful applicant will join the Section of Clinical Psychology in the School of Health in Social Science and become a member of the Contextual Mental Health Research Group.

This job requires Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) check.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in working with people with severe mental health problems, particularly people who experience psychosis.
Experience of using psychological self report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with people with severe mental health problems.
Proven ability to use initiative to efficiently plan, optimise and progress project and communicate findings.
