With aroundandnbsp;65andnbsp;schools spanning across all areas of the City of Sunderland, including Houghton-Le-Spring and Washington we serve over 10,000 nutritious and delicious meals to children every school day.andnbsp;andnbsp;We take pride in our quality standards and the talents of our workforce.andnbsp;
We are looking for experienced chefs / cooks / assistant cooks who are looking for the next step into managing a schoolandnbsp;kitchen .andnbsp;This is aandnbsp;permanent role with a guaranteed minimum number of contracted hoursandnbsp;(which may increase depending on the kitchen being covered), access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and opportunities for personal development and progression within the serviceandnbsp;andnbsp;
You will therefore need to have hadandnbsp;previousandnbsp;experience working in a cooking capacity (egandnbsp;chef, cook) andandnbsp;ideally alsoandnbsp;have a cooking qualification (Candamp;G 7061/2 / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)andnbsp;
It is aandnbsp;hands onandnbsp;role and you willandnbsp;be responsible forandnbsp;preparing and cooking a range ofandnbsp;2andnbsp;main course meals as well as sandwiches / jacketandnbsp;potatoes ,andnbsp;salads and desserts to pupilsandnbsp;and school staff (daily meal numbers ranging anywhere between 50 andndash;andnbsp;300andnbsp;/ day).andnbsp;Youandrsquo;llandnbsp;be responsible forandnbsp;supervising the team of staff within the kitchen, overseeing allandnbsp;day to dayandnbsp;kitchen and serviceandnbsp;mattersandnbsp;as well as administration / paperwork duties such as food ordering, stock taking, completing wage returns etc.andnbsp;andnbsp;
Working in a school environment is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling but requires a customer friendly approach and a happy and positive manner.andnbsp;andnbsp;
This is a mobile role so will require covering in a range of different school kitchens across theandnbsp;Cityandnbsp;in the absence of the school Cateringandnbsp;Supervisor . You will be guaranteed a minimum of 33 hours / week (term time) and it is a permanent post .andnbsp; Successful applicants will need the means of travelling between sites asandnbsp;requiredandnbsp;
