What skills and experience we're looking for
Experience of working with children and young people to overcome barriers to their personal, social or learning development.
Experience of/ or a passion for, supporting visually impaired young people enabling them to fully access all aspects of school/ college life.
The physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, taking a nurturing, empathetic non-judgemental approach.
A genuine appreciation of the potential barriers to post-16 student’s learning, and sensitivity towards their circumstances and life experiences
High expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential
Experience of developing activities and alternatives that will support young people to engage in the learning process.
Understanding of how to support young people with VI, ASD and/ or sensory needs.
The ability to build positive relationships with students, ensuring consistency and continuity daily.
The ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for students in relation to the curriculum
A commitment to working effectively with all members of the Learning Centre team.
Willingness to participate in own professional development
