This position has a starting salary of £27,634 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
This is a 6-month fixed-term position commencing in April 2026.
We are excited to be hiring an Outdoor Learning Instructor to join our dynamic Outdoor Learning team at Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD). This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Instructor, offering a varied and rewarding position.
Our Outdoor Learning Instructors work across all of SOLD's provision, with a primary base at one our centres.
Our centres are:
- High Ashurst, Mickleham Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DQ
- Henley Fort, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4RH
- Thames Young Mariners, Ham, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 7RX

About the Role
At Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), we offer our visitors carefully facilitated, bespoke programmes in the outdoors, creating positive learning outcomes and experiences.

As an experienced Outdoor Learning Instructor, you will be working with a range of groups including primary, secondary, college, graduates, adults, SEN and family groups. You will facilitate high quality, outcome led outdoor learning and developmental experiences. Programmes are carefully designed and bespoke to fit the needs and learning outcomes of the group.

Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:
- Previous experience of delivering complex outdoor learning programmes
- A minimum of two national governing body qualifications relevant to outdoor learning
- Knowledge and practical experience in delivering high-quality outdoor activities, with a strong understanding of health and safety standards and compliance with national governing body requirements within the outdoor industry
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A flexible and positive solution focussed approach
