We have an exciting opportunity for a Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site. We are looking for an enthusiastic and able Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will join an existing team providing high quality clinical and personalised care to patients.
You will be a forward thinking, organised and highly motivated individual, who enjoys working with medically and socially complex patients. You will manage your own caseload and will be well supported by the multidisciplinary team.
You will possess excellent communication skills and be able to support and advocate for patients.
You will be an expert practitioner who, at a senior level, leads on and facilitate the provision of high quality, specialist nursing care to women with a known or suspected gynaecological cancer seen within the gynaecology service at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
You are expected to work independently triaging new referrals and have a defined clinical caseload as part of the gynaecology oncology team.
As CNS you will support patients with a new diagnosis of cancer and provide ongoing supportwith managing their symptoms and assessing their holistic needs.
You will act as a central point of contact for patients, carers and health professionals in the community and tertiary referral centres.
Working autonomously, you will assess patients who are admitted as either a planned or an emergency admission as a consequence of their cancer or treatment, recognising those who should be escalated to a senior member of the team.
You will attend MDT and PTL meetings in accordance with local guidelines.
You will work collaboratively with the Gynaecology–Oncology CNS team at the Cancer Centre to ensure patients receive seamless care along the integrated cancer pathway.
You will support the Consultant Lead with the development and review of evidence based local guidelines and the management and maintenance of policies for the service.
The role encompasses clinical, consultative, teaching, leadership, research and audit functions.

· Provide a high quality diagnostic and treatment service for women referred to the gynaecology service with a known or suspected cancer
· Provide specialist, expert episodes of nursing care based on assessment of physical, social, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs and in liaison with the MDT and other relevant health and care agencies.
· Provide adequate cover for the gynaecology inpatient ward at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust to facilitate high quality patient care and effective flow.
· To frequently and directly be involved in the giving of bad news to patients and/or relatives, informing patients of a cancer diagnosis. Provide support to anxious and /or bereaved relatives, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity in a professional manner.
· Act as a resource for women and the clinical and administrative teams by provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
· Undertake where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes and updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within the speciality of Endometriosis and fibroids.
· Contribute to formulating reports and clinical audit of own practice, service and outcomes.
