At St Ignatius Catholic Primary School, we believe that all children should be given the opportunity to excel. We are a friendly, supportive team who put the needs of our children first and currently have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant. This is a fixed term position until 31st August 2026 initially with potential to extend. The successful candidate will be very positive, caring and passionate about working with children, and will be committed to upholding our school mission statement - 'Achieving our best by learning together and serving one another with Christ by our side'. You will need strong communication skills to liaise with staff and parents, and be prepared to support the needs of the children. You will be flexible to meet the needs of the school on a day to day basis.Hours: 31.25 hours per week, for 38.2 weeks a year (term time plus one INSET day). To be worked: 08:30 to 15:15 Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break. Pay scale: Surrey S3 £24,330 FTE (£17,794 actual annual based on 31.25 hours)Key responsibilities:High standard of professionalism in conduct.Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children attending the school.Liaise with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator regarding application of school policy to support children.Have particular regard to the individual needs of each child in the class and ensure early intervention is of the highest priority, to ensure children are school ready.Carry out intervention work with class/specific pupils as set out by the SENDCo/Class Teacher. Support the teacher to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for children’s learning.
Support the teacher in providing a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all children.
Keep appropriate, accurate and efficient records as requested by the teacher to support with children’s learning and well-being.
Support the teacher to organise resources for the the class and consider any further resource needs and their effective placement.
Support the teacher to build effective relationships with parents reporting on the development, progress and attainment of children through parent discussions.
Support the teacher to maintain good order and discipline amongst children, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.
Support the teacher to implement supportive and sympathetic settling in procedures for new children, including taking on a key person approach.
Support children to develop independence and self-help skills ensuring intimate care policies are followed.
