Clinical: The post holder will, along with other resident doctor colleagues, be responsible for: a. Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required(Evelina London Childrens Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Kings College Hospital). b. Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff. Timetable: The exact timetable would be determined after discussion with the Lead for Paediatric Transplant Surgery and other colleagues as needed, to consider the educational needs of the post holder along with those of other resident surgical colleagues. However broadly speaking it would involve the following: a. Participation in paediatric transplant assessment, transplant follow-up, and dialysis access assessment clinics b. Participation in paediatric transplant, dialysis access and renovascular operating lists c. Ward rounds of children at Evelina London Childrens Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Kings College Hospital d. Preparation for, and attendance at, paediatric MDMs On call commitment: The post holder will undertake a 1 in 12 (or higher) resident on call rota at band 1C (TBC). This will be resident on call. This will involve covering dialysis and transplant patients based at Guys & St Thomas sites. Please note the banding of the rota is subject to change and will be confirmed at the interview stage. Research: Clinical research undertaken as part of the Trusts research and development will beencouraged. Training of junior staff: The postholder will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that the post holder has agreed with their supervising consultant. Teaching: The post holder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Clinical Governance: All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management. They will be expected to produce evidence of their contribution in these areas and their audit of their own clinical work as part of their appraisal. Mutual Obligation to Monitor Hours: There is a contractual obligation on employers to monitor working hours through robust local monitoring arrangements supported by national guidance, and on individual doctors to co-operate with those monitoring arrangements. European Working Time Directive (EWTD): All posts and working patterns are under constant review in line with EWTD guidelines Educational Programme: Neither the London Deanery nor the Royal College accredits this post for postgraduate training. The post holder will be expected to attend and contribute to educational activities e.g., departmental meetings, x-ray meetings, pathology meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, journal clubs etc. Appraisal: All medical and dental staff are required to undertake appraisal.
