If so, our Histology Laboratory is looking to recruit a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Band 7) as training lead or a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6). You will play a key role within the Pathology Department at Noble’s Hospital on the beautiful Isle of Man and will be responsible for the preparation of histological and cytological material under specific standard operational procedures, producing prepared slides for diagnosis of disease processes by a Consultant Pathologist. This is your opportunity to join a dedicated, supportive and forward-thinking team, and use your knowledge and passion to make a real difference! Applications for the Band 7 training lead post are welcome from applicants that either already hold a relevant MSc or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or are currently undertaking either of these qualifications and expect to finish soon. Applications may also be considered for experienced individuals that meet all the other essential criteria in the Band 7 person specification and are willing to undertake and successfully complete the IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma within the next 3 years. A workplace that invests in you Enjoy higher salaries compared to the UK, along with annual salary increases that extend beyond typical UK NHS pay scales. A generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and 10 Public Holidays. Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the IOM Public Service offers two pension arrangements: the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011 or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement. Step away from NHS pressures and demands! The Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS. You may be eligible for a Blue Light Card, unlocking a wide range of exclusive discounts on shopping, food and leisure activities at hundreds of popular high street and online retailers. Access to the staff canteen at Noble’s Hospital where you can purchase affordable food and drinks in your breaks. Free on-site car parking. Our on-site education and training centre, Keyll Darree, comprises a lecture theatre, well stocked medical library, training facilities and a state-of-the-art simulation lab which is operated by trained simulation practitioners. Ability to apply for an unpaid career break after 3 years’ service. Access to the Isle of Man Public Service Cycle to Work scheme after your first year of employment. Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
