A vital role supporting learner safeguarding, wellbeing and engagement across Apprenticeships, Bootcamps and wider programmes. Ideal for someone committed to pastoral care, learner welfare, inclusion and Ofsted-aligned quality standards.
If you’ve also worked in the following roles, we’d also like to hear from you: Learner Mentor, Student Welfare Officer, Pastoral Support Officer, Learning Support Officer, Pastoral Coach, Engagement Officer.
SALARY: up to £30,000 per annum +Benefits
LOCATION: Hybrid working, which will involve visiting Learners. You will also be required to visit the Head Office in Llandudno. Candidates should reside within the North Wales Border / Merseyside or Warrington regions.
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week
PLEASE NOTE: You will need a Full Driving Licence and your Own Vehicle
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Learner Wellbeing and Student Engagement Safeguarding Officer, supporting learners across England through safeguarding, pastoral care and targeted wellbeing interventions. This role is pivotal in ensuring every learner feels safe, supported and engaged, whether they are on an Apprenticeship, attending a Bootcamp or taking part in another programme.
As a Learner Wellbeing and Student Engagement Safeguarding Officer you will deliver structured wellbeing check-ins, monitor engagement and implement personalised support strategies that promote retention, motivation and achievement. You will work closely with tutors to identify barriers early and coordinate effective action.
The Learner Wellbeing and Student Engagement Safeguarding Officer will also support Prevent and British Values delivery, contribute to Ofsted-aligned quality practices and gather learner voice feedback to shape continuous improvement.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Learner Wellbeing and Student Engagement Safeguarding Officer include:
• Safeguarding and Pastoral Support: Provide empathetic, learner-centred wellbeing interventions
• Prevent and British Values Delivery: Support understanding of online safety, extremism and positive citizenship
• Learner Monitoring: Track attendance, engagement and progression to identify risks early
• Support Planning: Develop and review personalised learner support and action plans
• Multi-Agency Liaison: Build and maintain networks across England to enable effective signposting
• Staff Guidance: Provide advice on disclosures, professional boundaries and safe working practices
• Training Delivery: Deliver safeguarding, Prevent and wellbeing workshops
• Curriculum Support: Embed safeguarding, pastoral themes and compliance expectations
• Learner Voice: Facilitate forums, surveys and engagement initiatives
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
• Level 3 Safeguarding qualification
• Previous experience in safeguarding, pastoral support or learner wellbeing roles
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Prevent Duty
• Familiarity with Ofsted requirements and quality standards
• Experience with pastoral care, wellbeing support or structured interventions
• Established networks across England to support effective referrals and signposting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
DESIRABLE
• Assessor qualification such as TAQA or CAVA
• Experience working within apprenticeships, AEB or funded learning programmes
• Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and the Education Inspection Framework
• Experience collaborating with employers or external agencies
• Mental health first aid or counselling-related training
