As a Trainee HIT Therapist, you will: Provide supervised 1:1 CBT sessions to adults experiencing mental health problems Participate in group workshops and psychoeducational interventions Work closely with supervisors, attending regular clinical skills sessions and academic teaching Develop your clinical competencies in line with BABCP standards This is part of the London wide Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT) for CBT High Intensity Therapists. The training programme consists of three days working within an Talking Therapies service and two days at university taught by experts in the field. Working hours when at the service are 9-5 with one shifted day from 12.00-20.00. The training takes place with the University of Royal Holloway at a central London venue and prepares you to meet BABCP accreditation requirements in order to work in Talking Therapies services. This is an excellent, but demanding course and candidates are expected to complete all its requirements within 12 months of starting the training. The post involves providing psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for people with common mental health problems. Please note that we cannot accept applicants without the necessary experience of working in a mental health setting. Experience of working in primary mental health and especially NHS Talking Therapies is desirable. In order to be considered from a PWP background candidates must have been qualified as a PWP for more than two years by the course start date in order to meet national guidance. It is desirable for candidates from a PWP background to have accreditation from the BPS or BABCP. If you are already registered on a Health Education England (HEE) funded programme, you will be unable to progress through the recruitment process. Candidates must either meet one of the following: BABCP core mental health profession requirements OR complete a KSA portfolio. A completed portfolio will be required within the first week of training. If applying under the KSA portfolio route It will be expected that candidates offered interviews for this post will be able to present evidence of their KSA at interview and therefore must be able to articulate how the KSA will be completed using their previous experiences of working in mental health settings in their application. Please note that candidates who have already completed training as a high intensity CBT therapist will not be accepted for this post. Candidates for this post will be required to become student members of BABCP at the start of training therefore must be eligible for membership with BABCP. Disclosure and Barring Service Check will be required.
