The Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a high-performing school in East London for a skilled and experienced Head of Finance. This is a key strategic role supporting the CFO in ensuring strong financial governance, long-term financial sustainability and efficient financial operations across the school.
The post holder will lead on financial planning, annual budget preparation, forecasting and projections. Responsibilities also include producing monthly budget-monitoring reports for senior leadership and trustees, overseeing treasury management (including cash flow and investments), and ensuring compliance with all financial and regulatory frameworks.
You will also line-manage the Finance Manager and their team, ensuring the smooth running of payments, financial processing and payroll checks.
About You
We are seeking an experienced finance professional who offers:
A recognised accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
Demonstrable senior management experience, including leadership of finance teams
Strong financial reporting, planning, analysis and control skills
Experience in a school, academy trust, charity or public sector setting is desirable
Understanding of charity law and governance frameworks is advantageous
You will also bring a values-led approach, commitment to high standards, and the ability to work collaboratively within a student-focused organisation.
