Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced TP141 Commissioning Engineer to join our team delivering high-voltage grid projects across London and the surrounding regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all commissioning activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with National Grid’s TP141 standards. This role is critical to the successful energisation of substations and associated equipment, supporting the reliability and resilience of the UK’s electricity network.

Key Responsibilities

- Commissioning activities: Plan, execute, and document commissioning works in line with TP141 procedures.
- Testing & verification: Perform functional and performance testing of protection and control systems, HV equipment, and associated infrastructure.
- Compliance: Ensure all works meet National Grid TP141 requirements, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain commissioning records, test sheets, and handover documentation.
- Coordination: Liaise with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to align commissioning schedules with project milestones.
- Safety leadership: Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental best practices during all site activities.
- Problem-solving: Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning to minimise delays and ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills

- TP141 Authorisation (current or previously held, with ability to renew).
- Proven experience in commissioning HV substations, protection systems, and grid infrastructure.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, control schemes, and grid codes.
- Excellent communication skills for coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage commissioning activities under tight deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London and surrounding areas.

Working Conditions

- Environment: Substation and grid project sites, requiring PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Hours: Project-based schedules, including occasional nights and weekends to align with outage windows.
