Bayleaf Care: Amazing Things are Happening Here!

Residential Support Worker

Due to us increasing the number of young people in this home, we are looking for several full-time, permanent residential support workers for a 4-bedded children's home in Tattenhill that looks after young people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The salary is £14.58p - £15.63p per hour with the option of overtime at any of our other children's homes.

The home is 4 miles from Burton, 11 miles from Uttoxeter, 12 miles from Lichfield and 15 miles from Tamworth.

About the home:

Postern Stables is our newest children's home, nestled in the peaceful village of Tatenhill, East Staffordshire. Set in a picturesque valley, bordered by two hills that descend from the eastern edge of the Needwood Forest, this spacious and fully renovated 4-bedded home offers a serene and supportive environment for young people to thrive. Located just 4 miles west-southwest of Burton upon Trent, Postern Stables provides a peaceful retreat for those who call it home.

Designed with inclusivity and comfort in mind, the home features a large open-plan kitchen and two spacious lounges, offering ample room for both communal living and quiet relaxation. A standout feature is the downstairs bedroom with a wet room, designed to cater for a young person with physical disabilities. Accessible from the car park via a ramp, this room ensures ease of access, allowing all young people to feel welcome and comfortable. Additionally, there is a dedicated sensory room, providing a calm and stimulating space to support the emotional and developmental needs of the young people in our care.

The kitchen at Postern Stables opens directly to 2.2 acres of beautiful land, providing plenty of space for outdoor activities and relaxation. Among the many outdoor features, our jacuzzi and hydro pool offer an opportunity for therapeutic relaxation, further enhancing the home's focus on well-being.

Another exciting and unique aspect of Postern Stables is its very own on-site school, especially adapted for the young people we care for. This allows us to offer tailored educational support in a familiar and supportive environment, promoting both academic success and personal growth.

Postern Stables is a place where young people can feel secure, supported, and empowered, with the space and facilities to meet their individual needs. If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and would like to join our dedicated team, we invite you to be a part of this exceptional home.

About Bayleaf Care

Bayleaf Care provides exceptional care for children and young people across the UK, especially those who have faced trauma. We use the PACE model, which creates a safe, caring environment to help children feel secure and build positive relationships.

Our approach starts with the key worker, who forms a strong, trusting bond with the child. This relationship is essential for the child's development and continues throughout their care.

We offer personalized care, education, and treatment led by a team of trained professionals, helping children manage their emotions and behaviours in a safe, supportive environment.

There are currently 5 children's homes open, 2 of these homes have their own school onsite. Bayleaf is expanding with more children's homes on the horizon and we are also opening 2 leaving care homes and 3 CQC registered adult homes so that all our young people can remain in our care by transitioning into these services. It has now been announced that in 2026 we are also opening 2 special schools, one for SEMH and the other will be a L/D & P/D school.

Each children's home has their own permanent on-site therapist and a pool car.

Job overview:

The role of a support worker is to provide 24-hour care and support to the young people in our care. This is a residential children's home so there are practical duties such as general cooking and cleaning but there are also lots of fun things to do, engaging the young people with activities both inside and outside of the home.

A caring and supportive attitude is essential for this role, and we welcome people that have experience with either adults or children with disabilities with associated behaviours that challenge.

The salary is £14.58p - £15.63p per hour depending on experience. Sleep-ins are paid at £55

Total salary is between £29,313 to £33,309 plus the opportunity to do overtime at any of the other children's homes.

There are waking night staff so sleep-ins are limited to 2-5 sleep-ins per month, but there will be the option to do either more or less sleep-in shifts.

The shift pattern is 1 day on 2 days off

Shifts start at 7am to 11pm, sleep-ins are 11pm to 7am, finish 7.30am after handover.

There is a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, fantastic career prospects as the company grows and you will be enrolled on the Level 3 diploma for residential childcare.
