What skills and experience we're looking for

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and values-driven Business Manager to join our primary school community. This is a key leadership role, forming part of the Senior Leadership Team and working closely with the Headteacher to ensure our school operates smoothly, efficiently and sustainably.

As a central member of our school, the Business Manager will be actively involved in all aspects of school life and will play a vital role in strengthening our links with families, staff, children, suppliers, contractors, and the wider community.

Our Values

Our school is built upon five core values:
Service
Humility
Integrity
Nurture
Excellence

We are looking for someone who embodies these values in their daily work and leadership—someone who leads with kindness, models professionalism, and contributes to a culture where children and adults can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic management of school finance, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and procurement, ensuring best value.

• Oversee HR administration and support staffing processes in line with legislation and school policy.

• Lead on premises management, health & safety, compliance and risk assessment.

• Ensure effective administrative systems and operational routines are in place across the school.

• Manage contracts, liaise with external providers and oversee site services.

• Support the Headteacher and SLT in long-term strategic planning.

• Contribute positively to the life of the school, attending key events and building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.

About You

We welcome applicants from a range of professional backgrounds. School experience is beneficial but not essential.

We are looking for someone who:

• Demonstrates strong financial management or business administration experience.

• Is organised, analytical and able to prioritise effectively.

• Communicates clearly and builds positive relationships.

• Works with integrity, discretion and professionalism at all times.

• Is committed to inclusive practice and equality of opportunity.

• Will embrace school life, contribute to our community, and uphold our values of Service, Humility, Integrity, Nurture and Excellence.

What the school offers its staff

We are proud to offer a working environment where staff feel valued, supported and part of a strong, caring community. Our school offers:

• A dedicated, passionate and supportive staff team who work collaboratively and care deeply about each other and our pupils.

• A strong leadership team committed to listening, supporting wellbeing and enabling staff to thrive.

• A positive, inclusive and nurturing school culture, underpinned by our values of Service, Humility, Integrity, Nurture and Excellence.

• Clear behaviour systems and routines that ensure a calm, safe and respectful environment for pupils and staff.

• High-quality professional development, including coaching, mentoring and opportunities for career growth.

• A commitment to staff wellbeing, supported by the SAS Wellbeing+ package and in-school wellbeing practices.

• A warm, friendly, community-focused atmosphere where relationships matter and every voice is valued.

• Well-resourced classrooms and learning environments that support high-quality teaching and learning.

• A culture of visible kindness, collaboration and mutual respect.

• Opportunities to contribute to wider school life and make a meaningful difference beyond your classroom or role.

• Supportive families and community partnerships, underpinned by strong communication and shared values.

• A focus on excellence, where staff are encouraged, trusted and supported to do their best work.
