What skills and experience we're looking for

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the educational and personal development of pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex medical needs. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will plan, deliver, and assess learning activities for individuals and groups, following an agreed timetable for part of the week. You will also provide leadership and guidance to other teaching assistants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, delivering, and assessing lessons for pupils according to an agreed timetable.
• Providing classroom support to enhance learning and promote independence.
• Leading intervention sessions and supporting personalised learning plans.
• Offering mentoring and pastoral care to pupils.
• Assisting with the physical care of pupils, including moving and handling.
• Supporting pupils with personal care needs when required.
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to meet pupils’ needs. Due to the complex physical needs of our students, experience or willingness to assist with moving, handling, and personal care is essential.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification and are working towards or hold HLTA status.
• Have experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and complex medical needs.
• Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Demonstrate high expectations for learning and behaviour.
• Are committed to making a positive difference every day.
