CLERK TO THE GOVERNORS
Fixed contract until 17.7.26, part time, term time only
Combination of working from home and school will be required
Variable hours: estimated hours approx. 228 hours per year (approx. six hours a week)
Salary, depending on experience: £4,881.77 - £5,5403.59 per annum (£18.64 - £20.63 per hour)Required: Monday 5th January 2026
The governors are looking to appoint a permanent clerk to the governing body who will provide advice and guidance to the governing body of St Paul’s Church of England Primary School Kingston Hill on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. This is a part time role, covering five full governing board meetings and approximately 10 committee meetings per school year. All meetings are held in term time. The clerk will be paid through payroll for hours worked on a monthly basis.
The clerk will contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of the governing body and its committees by providing:
• administrative and organisational support which includes being responsible for the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation; writing up and distributing minutes)
• guidance to ensure that the governing body works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance
• advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the governing body
• attending regular training events and briefings
The successful candidate should ideally have but would not be essential:
• knowledge of school systems: structures, accountability and funding
• knowledge of governance legislation
• knowledge of functions of a school governing body
