Your new roleAs a Commercial Specialist, you will engage and influence stakeholders both internally and externally to develop and lead end-to-end strategic procurement and commercial activities. You'll be responsible for managing the lifecycle of contracts, supporting negotiations, and ensuring value for money. The role involves providing commercial and contract management advice, promoting good commercial practice, and supporting both colleagues and business partners. You'll also contribute to the development of commercial strategies, compliance, and continuous improvement within the procurement function.
What you'll need to succeed

  • Knowledge of The Public Contract Regulations 2015.
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, communicate effectively, and resolve issues.
  • Strong commercial and contract management skills, including data analysis and market engagement.
  • Experience in interpreting contractual arrangements, managing controls and approvals, and maintaining robust records.
  • Familiarity with procurement regulations, processes, and tools to deliver tailored contracts with KPIs and SLAs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience working in a public sector procurement environment, including above-threshold commercial activity and contract management.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment.
  • Desirable: Mentoring, coaching, and team management skills; MCIPS accreditation or working towards CIPS accreditation, or equivalent experience.
