Plus generous benefits, including: • 45 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)• Generous Occupational Pension SchemeAbout the roleWe are seeking an experienced and passionate professional to support and coach apprentices and vocational students throughout their learning journey. The ideal candidate will combine strong hospitality expertise with excellent mentoring and organizational skills to ensure learners achieve their full potential.The Chef Learning Coach role combines hands-on culinary expertise delivering skills and knowledge to support assessment on programme. The Coach will act as Head Chef in our 2 AA Rosette commercial restaurant and oversee operations in our training kitchens, including: planning, developing of menus, managing resources, controlling costs, ensuring high standards of health and safety and developing innovative dishes and menus.About the personWe’re looking for a dedicated professional with proven experience in mentoring young people in a kitchen setting and ideally in delivering hospitality vocational and apprenticeship programmes. You’ll bring hands-on expertise in managing industrial kitchen operations, including stock control and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards. We will support the right candidate to develop the skill in training, coaching, and assessing learners along with the ability to guide portfolio development. Familiarity with HACCP procedures, internal verification processes, and awarding body requirements will be key to success in this role.You’ll hold a recognised hospitality or culinary qualification, such as an NVQ or diploma, and have a solid understanding of apprenticeship standards and assessment frameworks. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, Food Hygiene, and HACCP compliance is critical to maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.Strong organisational skills are essential for managing kitchen operations and maintaining accurate records. Excellent communication and leadership skills will help you motivate learners and foster teamwork. Technical expertise in the safe operation of kitchen equipment and adherence to food safety standards is a must, along with the ability to identify training needs and deliver flexible, responsive learning solutions.About the CollegeWe are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people.
