Job Title: HGV Mechanic
Pay: £19.66 - £27.84 per Hour
About the Role
Looking for a role where every day feels a bit different? You'll be joining a friendly team at a busy site near Hampton in Arden, home to a manufacturing facility, workshops, a fleet of HGVs, storage areas and the main office.
We produce high-quality recycled softwood products, and our fleet is key to keeping everything moving. That's where you come in.
As an HGV Mechanic, you'll work alongside experienced technicians to keep our HGVs and trailers in top shape. One moment you might be carrying out routine inspections, the next you're diagnosing a fault, repairing moving plant equipment or tackling electrics and hydraulics. No two days are quite the same.
We're looking for someone who's happy working within a 9.5 hour shift pattern, including some weekend work. Flexibility and a great attitude go a long way here.
What You'll Be Doing
* Carrying out trailer inspections and repairs
* Routine PPM, servicing and fault finding on HGV/LGV units and trailers
* Working on Moffett equipment and completing inspections
* Hydraulic and electrical work across different types of machinery
* Getting involved with our bespoke blower trailers and blowing equipment
* Brake testing and general braking system repairs
* Pre-LOLER checks where needed
* Occasional welding and fabrication
* Attending off-site breakdowns
* Receiving full on-the-job training where required
What We're Looking For
* NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics (required)
* IRTEC qualification (desirable)
* HGV licence (desirable)
* Auto-electrics experience (desirable)
* Hydraulic experience or qualification (desirable)
* Strong awareness of safe working practices
* A positive, "can-do" attitude
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Reliability and pride in your work
Hours
45 hours per week
Monday to Friday on alternating shifts:
* Week 1: 06:00 to 15:30
* Week 2: 07:30 to 17:00
You'll also work alternate Saturdays (usually 07:00 to 12:00).
Occasional Sunday or Bank Holiday work may be offered.
