Summary


We are looking to appoint a post-CCT Clinical Fellow in Adult Limb Reconstruction Orthopaedic Surgery. Based between The Royal London Hospital and Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre (BHOC), this fellowship provides an excellent higher training opportunity in all aspects of adult Limb Reconstruction, bone infection, major orthopaedic trauma and orthoplastics in a tertiary referral centre for trauma and elective surgery. This will include experience with management of internal and external fixation, circular frames, lengthening nails and management of bone infection and bone loss.

This post is suitable for a candidate who has passed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, and is looking for subspecialty experience in complex elective limb reconstruction, bone infection and trauma. Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice prior to the start of employment.

Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

Leadership, development and organisation on the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts business plans. Liaison and communication with the lead clinician, Service Manager, General Manager, Clinical Director for Orthopaedic & Plastic Surgery and the Surgery / Cancer CAG (Clinical Academic Group) Director.

A major contribution to the department’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency in both the delivery and the management of patient care including the 18-week referral to treatment standard, reducing length of stay and managing the ratio of new to follow up outpatient attendances in line with commissioner expectations.

1. To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient elective and non-elective trauma and orthopaedic surgical service by providing cover to Consultant, and on occasion Registrar colleagues when leave is taken.


2. To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients


3. To have regard at all times to all relevant clinical and quality standards including those set out in the Patients’ Charter, the 18-week waiting time standard and any local relevant agreements with commissioners.



4. To participate fully in the management of the department and to liaise closely with the lead clinician, Clinical Director and Surgery / Cancer CAG Group Director.



5. The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
