Job Description
Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a Payments Assistant (NJE GR 3) to join the Children and Families directorate within Commissioning & Resources > Placements & Commissioning. This temporary role will provide essential support while recruitment is in progress, ensuring the smooth operation of payments and administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clerical and administrative support to the Placements & Commissioning team.
Process payments accurately and efficiently using multiple systems.
Maintain records and ensure compliance with council policies and procedures.
Support colleagues with financial queries and assist in monitoring expenditure.
Communicate effectively within a small team environment to ensure smooth workflow.
Contribute to service delivery by prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines.
Requirements:
Strong administrative skills with experience in payments or finance support.
Familiarity with MS Office and ability to learn and use multiple systems daily.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
Strong communication skills to work effectively within a small team.
Ability to multi-task and adapt to a busy working environment.
References required for submission.
Working Arrangements:
Full-time, 37 hours per week.
Training period: 3–6 months based at County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham.
Hybrid working introduced once fully trained, with 1–2 days per week in the office (or as required).
Working hours: 8:00–9:00am start, finishing 4:00–5:00pm once trained (training start time 8:30–9:00am).
On-site parking available and bus connections directly outside the site.
