The Testing and Assurance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and user focus of DVSA’s digital services. Working within the User Services Testing and Assurance Team, the postholder will provide both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery of UAT across a diverse range of devices, applications, and operating systems.

As the subject matter expert for testing and assurance, the postholder will embed best practice and standards across DVSA’s digital estate. They will ensure testing activities are effectively planned and executed in alignment with DVSA’s change programmes, avoiding scheduling conflicts and supporting seamless integration with wider transformation initiatives.

This role is central to driving continuous improvement, ensuring testing processes are robust, repeatable, and responsive to evolving user needs and emerging technologies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams, delivery partners, and cross-government colleagues to ensure DVSA’s testing and assurance practices align with industry-leading standards and government-wide methodologies.

By providing expert guidance, assurance oversight, and strategic input, the Testing and Assurance Specialist will help DVSA deliver high-quality, accessible, and secure digital services that meet user needs and comply with relevant policies and regulations.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Being responsible for ensuring User Services Testing and Assurance team carry out testing activities against the required standards and processes.
  • Overseeing the writing, or providing specialist assistance to stakeholders, of test scripts and user stories.
  • Ensuring that there is an effective plan to schedule testing in conjunction with the pipeline thereby ensuring that no conflict of timings or resource occurs across DVSA.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders to ensure that planning for testing is supported at all times and by all stakeholders.
  • Undertaking sign off of all end test reports to confirm that appropriate processes and procedures have been undertaken.
