Summary
Carmarthen Youth Project is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Youth Worker to join our team. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality youth work sessions, supporting young people's development, and contributing to the broader organisational goals of our project.
Position Details
Hours: 18 hours per week (Part-Time)
Salary: £12.21 - £13.85 per hour (pro rata: £11,437 - £12,969 per annum based on 18 hours/week)
Contract Type: Fixed 1 year (subject to successful completion of 3-month probationary period)
Working Pattern:
Term time: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 1:30pm - 7:30pm
School holidays: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 11:00am - 5:00pm
Salary dependent on experience, qualifications, and successful completion of probationary period
Key Responsibilities
Direct Youth Work
Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging sessions and activities for young people
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and promote their personal and social development
Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants
Respond appropriately to the diverse needs of young people, including safeguarding concerns
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain accurate records and complete data entry in a timely manner
Produce reports and evaluations to meet funding and organisational deadlines
Monitor attendance and participant engagement
Contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes
Collaboration & Networking
Work collaboratively with colleagues and support the organisation's wider objectives
Network effectively with partner organisations, schools, and community groups
Represent Carmarthen Youth Project at external meetings and events as required
Work independently and use initiative to manage workload effectively
Professional Development
Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training opportunities
Keep up to date with best practices in youth work and relevant legislation
Contribute to the continuous improvement of services
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
Level 2 and 3 qualification in Youth Work (or working towards completion)
Current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Experience
Demonstrable experience of working directly with young people
Experience in the third sector or voluntary organisations
Proven ability to plan and deliver sessions for young people
Experience of data entry and report writing to meet deadlines
Skills & Attributes
Ability to work independently and manage own workload
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds
Flexible and adaptable approach to work
Commitment to equal opportunities and inclusive practice
Understanding of safeguarding principles and young people's welfare
Desirable Requirements
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (mileage expenses available)
Experience of partnership working and multi-agency collaboration
Knowledge of local community resources and services for young people
Welsh language skills (or willingness to learn)
Experience of monitoring, evaluation, and outcome measurement
First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain
Knowledge of current issues affecting young people
