Neway International are seeking a Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer (SO2) to join our client based with the London Borough of Lambeth.

Start Date: 22 December 2025 (ongoing contract)
35 hours per week (09:00 – 17:00)
Pay Rates: PAYE: £23.51 per hour Limited/Umbrella: £30.67 per hour

Job Description
The London Borough of Lambeth is seeking a Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer (SO2) to join Housing Services (HRA). This temporary project role will focus on preventing homelessness in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act, associated guidance, case law, and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake home visits to residents at risk of homelessness, assessing their circumstances and providing tailored solutions.

Carry out housing needs assessments and develop personalised housing plans.

Manage a complex caseload, providing advice, advocacy, negotiation, and mediation to prevent or relieve homelessness.

Explore all available housing options to ensure best efforts are made to prevent homelessness.

Assess and investigate homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 where prevention or relief is not possible.

Communicate assessment outcomes clearly and professionally to clients.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, landlords, housing associations, and external agencies to achieve sustainable housing solutions.

Requirements:

Strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act and Housing Act 1996.

Experience in housing needs assessment and homelessness prevention.

Ability to manage a demanding caseload in a busy environment.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

Experience conducting home visits and working directly with vulnerable individuals.

Commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused housing services.
