Are you a software licensing professional who thrives on bringing order to complex IT environments? We have an exciting opportunity in IT Services for someone with expertise in software asset management, looking to make a real impact on how we manage and optimise our software estate across the University.
As our Software Asset Management Analyst, you'll be at the heart of managing the University's software assets, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and best practice across our diverse IT estate. This is a pivotal role where your knowledge of licensing agreements and software contracts will directly influence our operations and strategic decisions.
You'll maintain comprehensive software asset registers, manage vendor relationships, and work collaboratively across the University to ensure we maximise value from our software investments. From processing licence requests to supporting audits and providing critical insights through regular reporting, you'll be the go-to expert for all things software licensing.
We're seeking candidates with proven experience in software asset management, ideally gained within higher education or another large, complex organisation. You'll have strong knowledge of software contracts, compliance requirements, and licensing metrics, along with hands-on experience using SAM tools such as Snow Licence Manager, ServiceNow, or Licence Dashboard.
Your excellent analytical and communication skills will enable you to educate users, manage multiple supplier relationships, and produce clear reports for senior management. Experience with service management tools and the ability to navigate complex IT estates are essential. If you hold or are willing to work towards Technical Professional Registration in SAM, that would be a real advantage.
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their diverse backgrounds, abilities, and beliefs make Sheffield a world-class university.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits, including a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more.
Find out more at www.sheffield.ac.uk/benefits and join us to become part of something special.
You'll be joining our expanding IT Asset Management team within Service Operations and Governance, working directly with the IT Asset and Supplier Manager. This role offers genuine variety – from technical software deployment support to strategic cost planning and supplier management. You'll have the opportunity to deputise for the IT Asset Manager, giving you valuable exposure to broader asset management responsibilities.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
