About the role

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly motivated individual to help improve our understanding of how cancer affects people’s lives. You will be coordinating and conducting world leading research into the assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in people with cancer. This research is funded by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment in Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Group (QLG), (https://qol.eortc.org/), the largest research organisation of its kind whose mission is to improve HRQoL of people with cancer through dedicated research and the development of HRQoL measures.

In partnership with world experts in the field of HRQoL and oncology, our team have already made a significant contribution to the portfolio of EORTC QLG measures and thus have an established reputation for high quality research in this field.

This post will primarily involve the coordination of a multi-centre international project to assess HRQoL in people with stomach cancer as well as assisting team members with other EORTC QLG projects which are underway. Working under the supervision of the Senior Research Fellow, Dr Samantha Sodergren and in partnership with the wider study team, you will be responsible for leading the operational management of the project including all aspects of the project life course from protocol design and approvals to research governance, collaborator engagement, site set-up, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

About you

Applications will be considered from candidates who have a PhD or a research-related qualification, experience in a health-related area and a keen interest in the field of cancer and/ or gastrointestinal diseases and quality of life. The ability to work independently, as well as excellent inter-personal, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills are essential.

What we can offer you

We will help you find a good work-life balance with flexible working hours, hybrid working options, holiday allowance, and additional university closure days. You will have access to mentoring, career development and networking across the University and beyond. As part of this role, you will be encouraged to engage in activities that develop your research identity and broader leadership skills equating to 10 days of continuing professional development.
