Job Purpose To provide an efficient and friendly reception and administrative service to support the smooth running of the practice and the delivery of high-quality patient care. The post holder will work as part of the wider practice team, ensuring patients are welcomed, supported and directed appropriately. Key Responsibilities Reception Duties Greet patients and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner. Actively signpost and care-navigate patients to appropriate services. Answer the telephone promptly, professionally and courteously. Manage patient enquiries and provide accurate information when required. Manage the waiting room environment and ensure patient flow is efficient. Appointments and Patient Administration Book, amend and cancel patient appointments for all clinicians. Administer new patient registrations and maintain accurate patient records. Update patient information in line with practice protocols. Process repeat prescription requests and action them in a timely manner. Clinical and Administrative Support Process clinical tasks, messages and requests from clinicians and managers. Handle incoming clinical correspondence, including scanning and workflow. Provide information on non-NHS services and explain relevant charges. Ensure clinical rooms are restocked with stationery and essential supplies. Operational Duties Open and close the building, ensuring full compliance with security procedures. Maintain a tidy and organised reception and waiting area. Attend staff meetings, training sessions and engage in ongoing development. Work flexibly to provide cover and support colleagues when required. General Responsibilities Work in accordance with practice policies, procedures and protocols. Adhere to all relevant legislation, including data protection and confidentiality. Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture within the practice.
