£24,030 - £24,513 per annum – 36.5 annual leave days
Join NCHA as a Support Worker at our Linby service. We offer full training and great staff benefits, such as holiday buy/sell, discounts on bus passes, maternity/paternity leave, and more.

Do you have experience in hospitality and customer service? Would you like to make a real difference in the community away from the noises of the city, surrounded by a bed of greenery?

If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Sherwood House team as a Support Worker, and we'd like to show you in this video why this is a great place to work.

Did you know NCHA was officially ranked as one of the UK’s best places to work? This year, we were officially ranked as the 41st UK’s Best Workplace™ by Great Place to Work UK. Take a look at our working life, benefits, and values, to see why 77% of our colleagues say it is a great place to work.

Please note that we are not currently offering visa sponsorships.

The Service

Sherwood House is a registered care home which runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide person-centred care and support to 19 elderly residents who have chosen this home as their place to retire and live happily ever after. Like them, you will also feel a change of pace thanks to the home’s scenery, as it is situated in the small village of Linby who won Nottinghamshire's "best kept village" award in 2013. A local tale recounts that the humble pancake was invented by the women of Linby to celebrate the defeat of Danish invaders.

The Role
As a Support Worker at Sherwood House, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to our residents. Your main responsibility is to help residents live as independently as possible, while respecting their choices and preferences.

Sherwood House has a dedicated Chef and Activity Coordinator, so your focus will be on:

Supporting residents with personal hygiene and personal care
Encouraging community engagement and social activities
Offering companionship and emotional support
This role may involve moving and handling tasks and risk management, so you must be comfortable and willing to undertake these duties. For full details, check out the Role Profile at the bottom of the page.

✅What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a friendly, calm, and resilient individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality care.

Essential skills and experience:

Previous experience in hospitality or strong customer service skills
Experience in a care role is highly desirable
Understanding of age-related health needs
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
If you are enthusiastic about protecting human rights, promoting choice and independence, and helping people live meaningful lives, we would love to hear from you!

Travelling to Sherwood House

Due to its location, candidates who can drive are highly desirable, as public transport involves a 20-minute walk to the care home from The National School in Hucknall, which is the furthest the threes buses (Trent Barton) can take you to in your journey to us. The home is a 7-minute drive from the High Street in Hucknall.

Working Hours

All successful candidates will be required to work on a rota basis over a 24-hour period including weekends and bank holidays; a bonus is paid for waking nights. Shift Patterns include: 07:00-15:00, 08:00-13:00, 08:30-12:30, 13:30-21:30, 07:00-14:30, 14:00-21:15, and 21:15- 07:15 waking nights.
