Summary

Working for Buttercups Nursery, you will be responsible for the preventive, remedial and corrective maintenance at the eight nursery sites, all based around the west London area. Maintenance tasks could include plastering, painting, basic electrics, moving items, carpentry works as well as helping IT, putting together toys, ordering of materials and other maintenance duties.

Using the in house maintenance log, you will plan your work to ensure that you carry the required tools and resources to maximise the use of your time going around the nurseries. When time allows, you will be asked to use your skills more creatively to enhance the play space for the children by creating resources such as mud kitchens or waterfalls. When significant events occur, you must prioritise correcting these before completing other works.

In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the smooth running of all equipment and carrying out regular checks (e.g. fire alarm);
- Writing health and safety risk assessments and method statements for the work that you complete;
- Maintaining your health and safety knowledge;
- Ensuring that the health and safety of the children and team members is maintained when conducting work;.
- Reporting when specialists are required and then liaising and managing contractors when on site;
- Maintaining our code of conduct and minimising costs at all opportunities;
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity;
- Drawing to the attention of management to any defects affecting Health & Safety.

Hours:
40 hrs per week on shifts between 7:30am and 6:30pm. You will also be required to be on call for emergencies. Weekend working will also be required on occasions. This and overtime will be given as time off in lieu.

What you will bring:
Essential:
- Able to perform basic plumbing, electrics and have competent carpentry, painting & plastering;
- Excellent time management skills and competent with IT;
- You will be qualified to NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical and/or electrical Engineering, BTEC level 3 in Mechanical & Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering);
- Minimum 2 years post apprenticeship experience;
- Excellent communication & English language skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and as a self-motivator;
- Project a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Desirable:
- Relevant trade qualifications.

Due to the nature of this job you will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. You must also have the Right to Work in the UK.
