As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide individualised support to students with various learning difficulties and disabilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and activities tailored to the needs of individual students
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with SEN, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and encouragement to reach their full potential
- Implement strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SEN coordinator to support students' learning and development
- Monitor and record students' progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to the assessment process
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students' needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting equality and diversity within the classroom
- Assist with the preparation of educational materials and resources, adapting them as necessary to meet individual student requirements
- Provide support during break times and lunch times, ensuring the safety and well-being of students
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, either in a school setting or a similar environment
- Relevant qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching and Learning, or a willingness to undertake further training
- A genuine commitment to supporting and nurturing children with SEN, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- A proactive and flexible approach, adapting to the changing needs of students and the school environment
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of all students
