Teaching Assistant (Behaviour Focus) - Secondary School - Hackney
Full Time | Term Time Only | November/December 2025 Start
Up to £115 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are are working with a large, inclusive secondary school with a Sixth Form in Hackney to recruit a Teaching Assistant with a focus on behaviour support.
The school is seeking a dynamic and proactive individual - ideally with a sporting or coaching background - who is passionate about engaging young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career in education, with clear opportunities to progress into pastoral, mentoring, or behavioural lead roles.
You will work across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students in lessons, during unstructured times, and through behaviour-focused interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH or behavioural needs in and out of class
- Assist with behaviour management, de-escalation, and engagement strategies
- Build strong, consistent relationships with targeted pupils
- Deliver mentoring programmes and sports-based interventions where appropriate
- Work closely with Heads of Year, pastoral leads and teaching staff
- Contribute to tracking student progress and behaviour plans
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A background in sport, youth work, coaching or mentoring
- Experience working with secondary-aged students
- A calm, confident and resilient approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusion
- Interest in progressing within education and pastoral support
Location and Transport - Hackney, East London
- Accessible via Hackney Central, Homerton, and Dalston Kingsland stations
- Bus routes include: 30, 38, 55, 106, 254
