Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a Psychology graduate passionate about child development and behaviour?

Do you want hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs before progressing into Ed Psych, SALT, or SEN teaching?

Looking for a role where you can genuinely change a child’s day, every single day?

If this sounds like you, this Birmingham primary school is offering a truly rewarding opportunity to begin your career in specialist education.

The school is known for its nurturing, inclusive ethos and strong pastoral framework. Led by an experienced and supportive SENCO, the school provides a safe and structured environment for children with a range of additional needs.

They are now looking for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their SEND team, working closely with pupils who present with:

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs)
Communication and interaction difficulties

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include 1:1 support, small-group interventions, emotional coaching, communication development activities, behaviour-regulation strategies, sensory-friendly learning support, and helping pupils engage positively in the classroom. This is real, hands-on experience in understanding how children think, feel, learn, and communicate.

For graduates aspiring toward Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Child Mental Health, or SEN Teaching, this role offers invaluable exposure to specialist strategies and professional practice within an experienced team.

What This Role Offers:

• Minimum £100 per day, rising to at least £25k upon permanent appointment
• Long-term role in a highly supportive, inclusive primary school
• Daily experience with children presenting ASD, SEMH, and communication needs
• Professional mentoring from SENCOs and external specialists
• Practical SEN experience ideal for Ed Psych, SALT, SEN teaching, and therapeutic careers
• A fulfilling role where you can make a meaningful difference
• Interviews taking place within the next 2 weeks

If you’re ready to take the first step into a rewarding SEN career, send your CV and Cover Letter to Ryan at KPI Education today.
