An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Control Supervisor at our Head Office site in Asheldham, Essex.
This is an office based role, working within the QC team to ensure the supply, production, storage and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods meet quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
Inspect and evaluate incoming raw materials including alfalfa bales and pellets, baled straw, NIS pellets, grass bales and pellets , additives and bedding
Monitor and order supplies of raw materials
Assess and test suitability of raw materials for finished products
Stock control and defect reporting of packaging film
Inspect production areas for cleanliness and report to supervisors
Inspect and assess production line/paperwork with respect to Quality Assurance processes
Liaise with production supervisors to ensure raw materials and finished products are of optimal quality and identify defects in production processes
Inspect finished goods to ascertain quality in storage
Work with the QC Manager to carry out more checks of finished products – breaking down pallets to establish prevalence of issues that aren’t visible externally
Support the QC Manager with grading alfalfa and monitoring quality of Dengie produced Alfalfa bales
Support the Logistics Team when required with testing incoming raw materials and administration of storage space
Manage re-work – recording the number of problems, working with production to reduce the amount of re-work and ensuring use in a timely manner
Proactively identify, communicate and, if required, resolve production issues that will affect the finished product
Collaborate with production personnel to automate paperwork
Provide cover for other team members
Ad hoc tasks as required
The successful candidate will have:
Attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Organisational skills
Competence with Microsoft 365/Office
Flexible approach to working
Knowledge of risk assessment and HACCP principles
Desirable skills are:
Knowledge of Dengie products and/or feeds manufacturing processes
Understanding of trade assurance schemes
