We are looking for a driven individual to make an impact in the North Powys Environment Team providing advice relating to the sustainable management of Natura 2000 ( National Site Network Sites) to support the delivery of NRWs Biodiversity and Ecosystem Resilience strategy 'Vital Nature'. This aims to address the Nature Emergency, reverse biodiversity decline and build ecosystem resilience. This involves working closely with NRW staff, Welsh Government, landowners and partners to deliver management agreements, develop projects, monitor their process and ensure they deliver effectively and on time.
About us
The role sits within the North Powys Environment team and reports to the team leader, though can involve working in the area covered by the South Powys Environment Team. There is a wide range of Natura 2000 sites in Powys such as the Wye SAC and Elenydd - Mallaen SPA to the Berwyn SPA and Montgomery Canal SAC. Powys is a stunning place to work in.
There are a number of Natura 2000 Officer in NRW who support each other in their work.
As an operational team, the environment team cover a range of remits, including the regulation of permits, managing protected sites, and respond to environmental incidents . The team provides local advice and guidance to others both within NRW and externally to our customers and stakeholders.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. You will be expected to attend face to face meetings, training or to participate in operational matters as and when required.
