Role Purpose

This post provides a brilliant opportunity to support the development of transformational projects to support our goals for regional growth and make the Scottish Borders a premier tourism, event and cycling destination. The Scottish Borders is beautiful, historic and vibrant with huge potential and this position will play a key role in realising this. Scottish Borders Council is looking for an experienced professional to support our ambitious tourism, events and cycling strategies, ensuring the Scottish Borders becomes a premier destination for visitors and event organisers, whilst realising the ambitions of the Regional Economic Strategy for the South of Scotland. This unique role will be instrumental in shaping our tourism and events landscape and maximising the economic and cultural benefits these sectors bring to our communities. To succeed in this role, you will need a combination of creativity, strategic vision, and established connections in the tourism and events sectors. We are seeking someone with the drive and experience to deliver high-impact initiatives, someone passionate about enhancing our region’s tourism offerings, and excited to bring our vision to life.

Essential

• Educated to SCQF level 8.

• Qualifications in a relevant field such as Tourism, Events Management, Sustainable Transportation, or Economic Development.

• Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

• Good general level of education with sound literacy and numeracy skills. Ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) within a performance management culture.
