St Mary’s Catholic High School is a vibrant 1118 community with a flourishing sixth form, rooted in faith, inclusion and a deep commitment to helping every child thrive. We offer an exceptional environment where pupils are known, valued and supported to grow in confidence, achieve excellence and take their place in the world.
We are now seeking an inspiring Head of Year to join our pastoral team. This is a highly rewarding, front-facing leadership role. You will play a central role in shaping students’ daily experience and be responsible for the pastoral care of students in a year group. This will include monitoring behaviour, attendance and welfare, and working closely with parents, staff and external agencies to remove barriers to learning.
Guided by our warm strict and known and nurtured philosophy, you will uphold the highest expectations and model the relationships that allow pupils to flourish. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, experience in pastoral care, a track record of credible practice in their current role and effective behaviour management techniques. It would also be beneficial for candidates to have an understanding of student welfare and safeguarding, and a proven track record of improving student progress and attainment. Emotional intelligence, consistency and a systematic calm approach are essential, and in return you will join a supportive and experienced Key Stage team committed to your development.
If you’re ready to make a genuine difference in a faith-filled, ambitious school where every child matters, we would be delighted to hear from you.
