Our Team
The Environmental Enforcement Team is a regulatory service within the Environment Directorate. The team works across the council’s directorates and with external partners, to reduce and prevent environmental crime in North Yorkshire.
The Role
As an Environmental Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for the investigation and enforcement of a wide variety of environmental issues including fly tipping, littering, abandoned vehicles, stray dogs and unauthorised encampments
Reporting to a Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer, you will work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to undertake a variety of investigations, which will include contact with individuals, interviewing under caution, drafting letters and notices, issuing fixed penalty notices, writing statements, preparing case files and attending Court as an expert witness. You will also take part in multiagency initiatives and promotional events to tackle environmental crime.

· An ability to produce clear and concise written documentation
· Good problem-solving skills
· The ability to engage with the public in a fair and respectful, but assertive manner
· The ability to work with internal and external partners to achieve common goals.
