Associate Director
Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for an experienced Associate Director to work on the West End transfer of the Almeida Theatre’s production of 1536. Written by Ava Pickett and Directed by Lyndsey Turner.
Your duties and responsibilities will be those normally expected of an Associate Director on a first-class West End production.
The Associate Director will work with the Director in delivering the creative vision of the production, as well as providing research and administrative support.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: rehearsing the understudies and supervising and noting the weekly understudy rehearsals and show watching an understudy’s first performance on stage; watching and noting the show at least once per week; attending and facilitating post-show question and answer sessions in the absence of the Director and any other tasks that the Producer or the Director may reasonably request.
You will provide a strong support to the Director, liaising between many different departments, so it is important you have good communication skills.
We are committed to a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from those currently underrepresented in our workforce.
Start Date: w/c 23rd March (TBC)
Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract and must have the right to work in the UK.
Job Location: Central London
Contract Type: Fixed term until Saturday, 1st August 2026, or for the run of the Production, whichever shall be the shorter, subject to two weeks’ notice by the Producer as per the SOLT/Equity Agreement.
Salary: in line with the industry standard
Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks; 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
Application Deadline: Tuesday, 2nd December at 10am.
