Composite Design Engineer
Location: Banbury
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are looking for a talented Composite Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Banbury. You will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of advanced composite components. Your work will support both new product introduction and ongoing product lifecycle maintenance.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving engineering challenges, working collaboratively, and contributing to cutting-edge composite solutions in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities• Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings. Basic knowledge of FEA is advantageous but not essential.
• Interpret drawings and technical specifications to ensure full technical compliance. Liaise with engineering management and suppliers where needed to clarify requirements.
• Perform or oversee qualification and development testing using both in-house and subcontracted facilities. Analyse test results to validate component and material performance.
• Prepare and author qualification test procedures and reports.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support successful project delivery.
• Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing products throughout their lifecycle.
• Communicate progress clearly and effectively across the team.
• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under clear guidance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, using first principles where appropriate.
• Willing to take a hands-on approach to component development and testing.
• Excellent communication skills, able to contribute to open, two-way discussions.
• Comfortable working in both office and test-lab settings.
• Flexible and able to work effectively within a dynamic, enthusiastic company culture.
• Knowledge of Polymer Matrix Composites, including resins, fibres, manufacturing processes, and testing methods, is beneficial but not essential.
